Today I will be sharing the first of the two wedding shoots we did in Orange County. The first one taking place at the Inn of Laguna Beach, a beautifully designed inn with breath taking ocean views. This venue was stunning and the staff was an absolute pleasure to work with! Having an all star team of vendors is SO IMPORTANT! If you are looking for an intimate location right on the beach with spectacular views… this little hidden gem is perfect place to say I do!
Design
We took inspiration from current trends and classic elements that will stand the test of time. The color scheme was light, bright, and airy with shades of Ivory and Pink while incorporating natural wood tones and hyacinth accents. The beautiful wooden Orion chairs make such a statement when you see them all lined up for the ceremony. They are pure luxury! Combining wood tones with different textiles created depth and dimension and that is what makes the details pop. We layered the ceramic plates on glass chargers and placed them on woven placemats and it was STUNNING. Highly recommend using different mediums to create this look! We wanted the pacific ocean to be the main focal point and the florals and decor to accent it! If you know A Beautiful Theme, everything we do is over the top so of course the florals were the star of the show! We never intended to incorporate yellow into our color scheme until we saw the larger than life peonies at the Mayesh Wholesaler. They were dinner plate sized and become the star of the entire design. Everything came full circle- arch pun ;o) with the blue ocean and golden orange sunset as our backdrop.
For this event I took a traditional spin and used a circular arch, full of fabulous flowers! Florals for this event were amazing and incredibly fun to design. This was a special floral “milestone” for me because I was actually able to shop IN PERSON at the Mayesh Wholesaler (the most renowned wholesaler in the country)!
California is home to the largest wholesales because so many of the flowers are grown in local fields that way the flowers are as fresh as possible. It was a true luxury to be able to design with flowers cut fresh that morning. The Quality is remarkable. The yellow peonies were the largest I had ever seen!
Vendors
I partnered with my longtime friend and established photographer, Ashley Shaw. She was a major help in recruiting vendors and finding models! And we sure found some AMAZING vendors and models! A wedding cannot come together without amazing bakers, photographers, furniture rentals, and so much more.
This event gave me an opportunity to meet and work with so many new and amazing people! An Honorable mention was Cakes by Ky, the cake design was absolutely perfect. The cake gave the shoot a touch of understated luxury decorated with fresh flowers. I am not lying when I say I waited to eat it all day long! The cake tasted even better than it looked.
The models for today are Ian and Lezl. They were amazing at showcasing their love for one another and did I mention they are a real couple? I know, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
I had a truly wonderful time in California and getting to see my vision come to life was so heartwarming. I live for moments were I can see just how perfect everything came together. I was literally in Wedding Paradise!
